Simon must protect her, but soon finds where there is trouble, Cammie isn’t far behind.

She will not only steal his prized jewel, but his heart.

Heart pounding, Cammie followed Simon through the dark jungle with a loaded gun in her hand. It was amazing how good she could see with the night vision goggles on. They had listened to the chatter on Simon’s bug until the men fell asleep. Simon knew exactly where he was going and knew where the diamond was kept. The moon and stars were the only illumination in dark jungle. Wild animals howled in the distance; she hoped they stayed on their side of the jungle.
Simon stopped and turned around. “Are you okay back there?”
“Yes, maybe adventure really is in my blood.”
He smiled. “It’s not much farther. When we get there, we’re going into the tent I told you about. There’ll be a large wooden box. The diamonds are inside. Once I get the lock open, you take the red diamond. It will be the largest one. Take nothing else. Remember we have to get in, get what we came for and get out. If anything happens, you take that diamond and run back to the jeep, no matter what.”
She took a deep breath. “Okay.”
They walked approximately five more yards, then she saw a dying fire. Thanks to the goggles, she spied the tent that Simon had told her about. It was the closest one to the entrance of the mine. It was hard to grip the gun with her clammy hands. Five other tents circled around the fire. Simon motioned for her to follow him around the back of the tents. They arrived at the tent she was to go inside.
Simon gave her a quick peck on the lips and nodded. They went inside. Simon got the box open within a few seconds. She felt like she could not breathe when she looked into the wooden box almost full of clear loose diamonds. Resting on top was the red diamond, by far the largest diamond inside the box.
Adrenaline took over. She picked up the gem and put it into her pocket, careful not to drop the gun. It was surprisingly easy to take something that was not hers. As Simon locked the box back, they heard one of the men get up. Simon grabbed her and they went behind the tent. They squatted down low and peeked around. One of the men had gotten up to pee. They held their breath in the dark, waiting. Cammie was sure the beat of her heart was loud enough for the man to hear.
When the man went back inside his tent, she took a step to follow Simon and accidentally stepped on a large twig. The loud crack sounded through the silent, night air. She froze. They heard someone else come out of their tent. Simon grabbed her hand and pulled her into the mine shaft to hide. The mine was damp with an earthy smell. Tracks with rickety old carts lined the middle of the tunnel. On the opposite side of them were dirt-covered shovels, buckets and round shifters. Damn! They would be on their way back to the huts right now if she had not stepped on that stupid twig.
They pressed their bodies flat to the rock wall as they listened. When the voices got closer, Simon took her hand and pulled her farther into the mine. Her feet sunk down into the deep mud. She felt gritty gravel at the bottom of the sludge.Thank goodness, they were equipped with boots and night vision goggles. They went a little deeper into the mine.
Simon stopped to listen. Men’s voices carried through the tunnel. “Shit! I think we’re going to have to find another way out. We don’t have much time to get out of here. If they check the box and see the red diamond is missing, they’ll search the area. We need them to think one of their own stole the diamond.”
Cammie wanted to cry. Why did she even come? Now they were both in danger. She pressed her lips together to hold in the emotion that threatened to escape.
Simon put his hands on her shoulders. “We’re going to find a way out, okay? I need you to trust me.” She swallowed and nodded. Afraid for both their lives, she followed him with her feet growing heavy from the wet mud that now clung to her boots and pants. The air was thick the farther they went, making it difficult to breathe.
“Look.” Simon pointed to a round opening in the ground to the right of them. It must have been ten feet wide and twenty feet deep. The bottom of the pit looked like gravel. He took out a small flashlight and shined it down into the hole. She looked down at what she had thought was gravel. Among the little rocks was what looked like dirty chunks of ice.
“Diamonds.” Various shapes and sizes mixed in with worthless rocks. He shut the flashlight off and they continued through.
Cammie stepped on something crunchy. She looked down and screamed. Simon put his hand over her mouth. He looked down to see what caused her alarm.
“Is that human?” she asked, looking down at half a rib cage.
He hugged her tight. “I think so. Come on, I’m getting you out of here.” There was a small path to their left. Simon stopped. “I feel air. This way.” The opening was so narrow they had to turn sideways to get through.
Ten minutes later, they were out of the mine somewhere in the jungle. Cammie inhaled a big gulp of the fresh air as Simon took off his backpack. She watched him dig through the supplies with his light.
“Here it is.” He held up a compass. “Do you need a drink?” He handed her the canteen.
“Yes, but I think I need something stronger than water right now.” She took a drink anyway and handed it back to him.
“We’re okay. We need to head east. We should only be about an hour out of our way.”
Cammie nodded and tried to be brave even though she was sweaty, dirty and sick of being courageous. Her pants were damp and her night vision goggles were heavy. The bugs in the jungle were having a feast on her skin. Somehow, she never pictured this part of stealing a diamond. The wild noises of the inhabitants echoed around them. She did not want to shoot an animal, but she would if they decided she looked tasty.
They moved swiftly through the darkness toward the huts. By the time they got back, she was out of breath. She jumped in the jeep, relieved.
Simon gave her a quick kiss. “You were amazing. Now let’s get out of here.”

Murder, jealousy and treasure…
When Cammie Adams, determined novice PI, gets an urgent call from her ex, she is compelled to take his case. Miles, a luxury hotel owner and an upstanding citizen of Upton Hills, finds one of the maids dead. He turns to Cammie for help to keep his beloved hotel from being tarnished. With her partner and boyfriend, Simon, she takes on a case that might just be their last. Her ex’s hotel is an eighty-year-old building that has secrets of its own.Can they catch the murderer to save the hotel and her ex’s reputation or will the case take a turn that will leave them lost forever?
Simon looked at her and brushed the wet hair over that was clinging to her face. His hazel eyes stared deep into hers. “When I thought even for one second that I could lose you, I didn’t like it.”
She smiled at him. “You weren’t even worried about that hunk of gold.”
This brought back the fun loving guy she knew. “Thanks for reminding me that he got away with the gold.” He smirked.
“He won’t get away with this. My father will find us and we’ll get it back,” she said, looking out to the never ending water.
Simon scooped up a handful of sand and let the grains slowly slip out of his fingers, reminding her of an hourglass. “I don’t want to alarm you, but how will your father find us? He’s on his honeymoon and doesn’t even know we’re missing.”
“I have faith.” She wrapped her arms around him and kissed his cheek. “Besides there’s no one I’d rather be missing on a deserted island with.”
He touched the tip of her nose. “I’ve had some experience with living in the wild. We’ll survive.” She knew he was referring to the month he had spent camping out in the South African jungle. If he could survive in a jungle, an island with white sandy beaches and palm trees should be no problem.
“I know.”
Simon looked around. “We need to gather some wood for a fire before dark.”
She followed him along the edge of the trees to help him find some drift wood to burn. They gathered wood, small dried leaves and sticks, then carried it all back to the beach.
“Are your clothes still wet?” Simon asked.
“A little.”
Simon took off his shirt and pants. “We should take off our clothes and lay them in the sun so they can dry before nightfall.”
She stripped down to her bra and panties. At least if she only had one set of underwear they were high quality. She giggled. “I feel like we’re Adam and Eve.”
Simon smiled. “Does that mean you are going to tempt me with your forbidden fruit?”
She laughed and playfully slapped his arm.
“I’ll get a fire started. If you want you can grab as many of those fallen palm branches as you can. We’ll sleep on those tonight.”
“Okay.” She went over and started gathering the branches. By the time she got as many as she could carry, Simon had started a small fire. She was relieved to see the flame. They would be in total darkness as soon as the sun went down.
“I’m going to get more sticks for a bed. See if you can find any sharp shells and shells that could be used to drink out of.”
She walked barefoot on the hot, gritty sand. At least their clothes would be dry soon. The night air would get chilly. Someone had to find them. A couple of days on a deserted island with Simon would not be so bad, like a vacation really. If it turned into weeks or months that terrified her.
There were lots of broken shells. She took what looked to be the strongest and sharpest. Finding some that could be used as a cup was not as easy. Each time she picked up what she thought was a whole shell, once pulled out of the sand, proved to be another broken one. She continued to look, until her back hurt from bending over so much. Finally, she found two that were good enough to use as small cups. If only they had water or even better, sweet tea.
She looked down at a crab crawling along the sand. “Simon, I think I found some food!”
“Seafood, good job.” He picked up the crab and took it over to the fire. As their food cooked, they put on their dry clothes.
“I found some coconut trees. I need to climb up to get some. We need something to drink until we can find fresh water in the morning.”
She was nervous as she watched him scale the tree. She would not know how to help him or survive if he got hurt. He told her to look out, so she moved over. Three coconuts fell to the ground. Simon climbed back down like a monkey. He beat them open with a sharp rock he had found. As the sun set they ate cooked crab and drank coconut milk. Not bad.
Simon had managed to build them a temporary shelter for the night. Some sticks and leaves would at least keep them from sleeping on the ground. She snuggled up to Simon as the cool breeze blew. He protectively wrapped his arms around her. She felt tired and dirty.
“Are you okay, sweetheart?”
“Yes,” she lied.

Spies, weddings and new beginnings…

Ready to get back to work after a long leave from their PI business, Simon Fisher and Cammie Adams take the first case that comes their way. Someone is selling company secrets and it’s up to them to find the spy. But when they get their answer, they uncover much more than espionage.
After attending recent family weddings, Simon has become an expert at dodging Cammie’s hints about giving her a certain piece of jewelry he has always secretly feared. Simon doesn’t know how long he’ll be able to keep his girlfriend satisfied without giving her the one thing she still desires.
As they work their case, will Simon and Cammie discover another fortune or will they see that the greatest treasure of all is the one they already have… love?
“All you found was a designer thong?” Cammie asked, disappointed and a little disturbed that Simon had seen another woman’s skimpy underwear. Not that he had not seen plenty of panties before he had met her—it was no secret that he used to be quite the playboy.
“Yes, I searched his entire apartment. Either Ted’s a player or in a relationship with a rich woman who can’t keep track of her panties.” Simon smirked.
“We’ll have to keep closer tabs on Marcy and Paxton. Maybe what the other employees suspect is true.”
Cammie filled Leo’s cat dish with more dry food. His soft fur rubbed against her as he weaved in and out of her legs. Leo had warmed up to them. Even though he still had a wild streak, he was affectionate. Cammie reached down to pet his butterscotch colored head. He purred a thank you as his tail wrapped around her leg.
Standing behind her, Simon placed his hands on her hips and pressed his body into hers.
“We need to take advantage of having the house to ourselves.”
She felt the warmth spread through her body until her lower half tingled, begging to be touched. No matter how many times they had made love, every time excited her just as much as the first. She turned to look into his seductive, hazel eyes. He lifted her up on the counter and she wrapped her legs around him as he removed her shirt.
They had moved from the kitchen to the shower, where Simon got one of his hunches about the case. His ideas could come at bizarre times. He had decided they needed to go check out Wentworth’s competitor. Maybe they could save some time if they were to find a connection with one of the employees in the Douglas building and the best time to break in would be in the middle of the night. Cammie had grabbed a black T-shirt and a pair of jeans in a rush to check out Simon’s hunch. Instead of spooning in bed, they were on their way to Douglas advertising.
Simon pulled the SUV into the dark parking lot. Douglas Advertising was not as big as Wentworth, but close to it. He parked in the back row of the lot where the security camera could not reach. Cammie tucked her long hair up into a black beret.
Simon disarmed the alarm system with an ease that still amazed her. Once inside the building, Cammie walked over to the receptionist desk. She shined her flashlight on the appointment book sitting on the desktop. Something had to lead them to their spy. She flipped through the pages with her gloved finger. Her heart raced when she saw Marcy Webber’s name. Marcy’s appointment had been a job interview with Douglas. Compelling, but that did not necessarily prove her to be the spy. Cammie took a digital image of the page. Simon came up behind her and touched her shoulder.
“Did you find anything in Douglas’ office?” she asked, hopeful.
“I don’t know. There was a name written on a piece of stationery that seemed out of place.” Simon showed her the rose colored paper. A letter D was embossed in gold. The only thing that was written was the name Daisy in black ink.
She held the thick paper between her fingers. “It looks pretty and expensive. Where was it?”
Simon motioned her back to the office he had been inside. He opened the top drawer of Douglas’ desk. “It was hidden under the organizer.” He carefully put the stationery back where he had found it.
“It is interesting, but may not have anything to do with our case. She could just be his mistress.”
Simon nodded. “Probably. Did you find anything?”
Cammie showed him the image she had taken. “Marcy’s appointment here was a job interview. It was written in the receptionist’s appointment book.”
Simon turned his head to the file cabinet. “Let’s check to see if Marcy’s on their payroll.”
Cammie nodded. After searching all the employee files, Marcy was looking less like a suspect. They did not come across Paxton, Jason, Miles or Ted’s names either.
“I’m not sure what to make of this,” Cammie said, as she followed Simon back outside to arm the alarm system.
“Things are always more complicated than anticipated, which is what makes this job so fun.”

We returned to the hotel after midnight and I immediately drew him a hot bath, adding bubbles from the upscale toiletry collection, and he let out a long sigh as he sank slowly into it, gazing at me expectantly as I hovered over him.

“You come, cariño?” he asked, gesturing for me to join him, and my pussy immediately jumped to attention.

I sat on the toilet and hurriedly removed my sandals and ripped off the tank top, my pulse racing as it always did when his luscious eyes turned seductive and mischievous.

“You do naked dance, mi amor?” he asked.

“Striptease,” I corrected, laughing, and he flicked bubbles in my direction, grinning boyishly.

“You do striptease?”

The suggestion made me hotter and I slowed down. I slid the jeans leisurely over my behind, turned away from him and bent over, giving him a good, long look at my ass in the skimpy thong as I wriggled out of the pants.

“Fantástico,” he murmured, and I spun to face him, fluffing my hair so it fell wildly around my face.

Then I slid my index fingers inside the panties, tracing them along my hip and the apex of my sex, and I plunged a hand inside, touching myself and licking my lips, enticing him with my tongue, and his eyes practically bugged out of their sockets.

I smiled to myself. My first striptease and it turned me on as much as it did him, my slit dripping with juices and my clit plumping and pulsing, and if I’d wanted, I could’ve made myself come in an instant.

I moaned softly, deliberately, and moved my hands up to my breasts, skimming the lacy fabric. I unhooked the bra and held it close to my chest, my hips swaying suggestively, and then I flung it at him.

He snatched it out of the air, his coordination soccer perfect, as was he. Delicious, tantalizingly hot, the bubbles swirling around his rib cage as he smiled his uniquely crooked smile and gazed lovingly at me with his soft chocolate eyes.

He was enjoying himself and so was I, and it was impossible not to love him.

I shimmied my tits in his face, making a show of it, and his hands reached for them, but I backed away.

“Mi amor, come with me,” he appealed.

And I did, quickly peeling off the thong and sliding into the tub. I straddled him and he grasped the nape of my neck, gently drawing me in for a kiss, his tongue passionate, loving and intense, a slow sultry dance. I drowned in that kiss, swept under by a–

The lock clicked. Baba was back. I silently cursed him, wanting to remain in the past, wanting to stay with Mikel. I remained immobile and kept my eyes closed, and I felt him looming over me, sensed the stark light streaming from the ceiling and smelled cigarette smoke.

She left her window down so the sweet-scented air whipped her hair around her face.

“You know one of the things I love about this island?” Remy shook his head. “The smell. The salty, sweet and even fishy smell. Does New York have a smell you miss?”

Remy thought back to the exhaust and overpowering perfumes the women wore. “No. Not really.”

Excerpt 1

“I lied to you,” I told her. “About how all I ever wanted was to be loved.”

“Why?” Emma asked, her eyes tightening at the sting of my admission.

“Because the truth is that all I ever wanted was…”

“Tell me!”

“All I ever wanted was to be loved by [YOU].”

She rolled her eyes and turned away, as if trying to hide her grin from me. I knew she couldn’t block me from her heart forever, and her reaction proved it.

“So, can we [make love] now?” I asked, and that was when she punched me.

“Not a chance, dork.”

Excerpt 2

I headed upstairs with Emma on my heels. She commented on the family photos on the stairway wall, the color of the second floor landing, the carpet’s thick under-padding, the layout, how clean my house was (yes, I spent all day yesterday tidying up and figuring out how to turn the vacuum cleaner on). I chalked up her chatter to nervousness.

“Here’s Evelyn’s room.” I pushed the door open and waved her inside.

“I can’t sleep in that,” she said, pointing to the Barbie-racecar toddler bed.

I shrugged. “Then I guess you’ll have to cuddle up next to me in mine.”

Excerpt 3

“I’m not [sleeping with] you,” she told me.

I didn’t believe the words because her eyes told a different story; sure they were closed, but that didn’t mean anything. I placed her gently on the bed, made sure her head was cozy on the pillow, then told her I’d be right back.

“Don’t leave me,” she slurred. She spoke slowly, the alcohol running thick through her veins by now.

So I cozied up on the bed beside her.

“Hold my hand, Morgan.”

I slid my fingers between hers (they fit perfectly), watching her while the alcohol slowly robbed what was arguably my best and only chance at getting laid before flying back home tomorrow.

4 roses for originality and a bit of romance

What a great little read, I gobbled it up in one sitting. The characters were real, their conversations witty, humorous, catty, and sarcastic. In the end it left me wanting a “Morgan” of my very own.

Morgan is a man going through the motions of being an average corporate accountant making ends meat in a loveless marriage. In a blink of an eye, he loses everything, his wife, his child, his habit and his routine.  It wakes him up to what his life has become, what he has become.

Morgan is newly divorced and more than a little lonely.   He proceeds to get “tech-savvy”, and gains insight into the social media world.  He needs female companionship and most definitely some form of human contact.  He buys an iPhone hoping to experience such a relationship by text messaging.

“The last time I’d been single, folks didn’t send text messages – not unless they had a label maker.  And even then, it never got you laid.  Not like text messages today.”

Morgan picks up a recommended book in this particular field, reads it and immediately knows it‘s bogus.  It does not work.  The only thing he got out of it was that any idiot can write a bookSo he does, he writes a novel based entirely on text messaging.  Sextual Encounters went viral and with the help of Social Media today, his story was deemed ‘Brilliant, Amazing, and Unique’, a “Brilliant Love Story.”  Within a month it hit the Top 100 list of Amazon’s Romance Bestsellers.

3 hearts for couples seeking love

This is how Morgan meets his biggest fan, Emma.  She sends him a fan-based package and Morgan feels an instant connection, or at least his body does.  She was exactly the kind of burn he wanted to feel and the perfect distraction he needed.  Included is a message that feels like fate for it was written by an authentic label maker.

Dear Morgan.  My name is Emma.  I am not looking for a relationship, but I think we should write a book together.  I am in the process of getting published and I think we can make beautiful literature together.  ~Emma

}i{ is their secret code for when they want to get their sexting on privately for Emma is in a loveless marriage herself.  Still they feel a connection even though its clear Morgan is trying to piece his family back together.  He starts another novel, Our Story, a romantic novel about the everlasting love of Oliver and Olivia, even as Emma and Morgan become closer and closer.

I’m good with numbers, not so much with words.  You’re not my words, Emma… But you’re my numbers.  You’re all of my numbers… You’re my infinity.”

2 teardrops for drama & emotional turmoil

In the end, I think Morgan and Emma truly fell for one another, however there are certain things in our lives that need to have some sort of closure in order to start over or start anew.  Morgan is struggling to find happiness and forgiveness, he tries to fill an empty void through writing, fame, and an exciting new romance.  Emma is still uncertain about the direction of her own failing marriage and trying to raise her own family.

“I loved you for everything.  Your successes and intelligence as well as your failures.  I loved you just like you said you loved me, but I loved you more.  I wrote a novel about you – Oliver, Olivia, it’s all you, one hundred percent you.”

“Morgan, I love you.  No matter what happens, I will always love you… And because of this love, I will always be waiting for you.  I’ll be there, always waiting, always for you.”

So, does Morgan make it as an exciting Best Seller Author?  Does he find his True Love? Does he get his HEA, or does he find he must choose his own path and make his own healing memories.

Thanks Morgan Parker for a very real story about Love, Hate, Divorce, and Life ever after.

Can two broken people help each other learn to love again and find their way home?

For Samantha Cole, love and relationships have never come easy. Pain and heartbreak have forced her to build a wall around herself. Hoping to start over, Sam leaves Boston behind and moves to Napa with her best friend. Trying to make better choices in love, Sam establishes rules to keep her heart safe. Little does she know that one man will challenge her and change her mind. He has the potential to break down her walls and bring her heart back home.

Ben Foster has been dealing with heartache and guilt for the past two years, believing he lost his only chance at love. He wonders if she is the one who can help his heart find a new way home.

Letting go of the past and moving forward is not always easy. Their connection is strong, but their pasts keep getting in the way. Will Sam and Ben’s journey tear them apart or help them find a place to call home?

Teaser 1

As I approach, I realize I have to say something to him. What will I say? I haven’t a clue. I just have to say something, anything, but it couldn’t be any worse than him being my personal eye candy. Bravely, I look up at him and try to open my mouth, but nothing comes out. He’s amazingly beautiful. I’m speechless. And I’m never speechless.

The picture Jenny has of him doesn’t do him justice. Dark brown hair that’s all kinds of messy, gray eyes that have specks of blue thrown in for good measure, framed by thick eyelashes. I see a small scar above his left eyebrow that adds to his sexiness. Oh, and his mouth. His lips appear soft, plump and kissable. I’m thinking that with the lips, mouth, and his strong jaw line, he’s a triple threat. There’s no doubt in my mind that they have the ability to wreak havoc all over my body. Now, if his tongue pops out, I could probably have a mini-orgasm right now at baggage claim. Definitely sex on a stick. Can I get a lick please?

Ben clears his throat, and it startles me awake from my dirty thoughts. “I’m thinking you must be Sam. I really hope so because if I bring home the wrong person Jenny will kill me.”

I laugh and try not to sound like an idiot. “That’s me. I’m Sam. Love the sign by the way. Very Say Anything.” He looks at me strangely, like I just spoke in a foreign language. I quickly fumble for something to say. “You know the movie, right? The boom box scene? It’s one of my favorites. You holding the sign up reminded me of it.” Okay Sam, stop rambling. “Anyway, never mind. I’ve got all my stuff so we can head out now.” Just stop talking.

“Okay, let me help you with your things. This isn’t too bad. Are you having some things shipped out?” He bends down to secure my luggage on the cart.

“No, I really don’t need much. I put most of my furniture in storage at my Dad’s house and donated a bunch of other stuff. I’ve got my essentials, and if I need anything else, Jenny will take me shopping.” I fidget with my backpack straps to keep my body busy. I remove it from my left shoulder and begin to place it on my right one. I swing it with as much force as I can due to its weight. This, of course, causes me to lose my balance. Fortunately or not, it smacks Ben right on the side of his bent over body, and he goes down to the ground taking me on top of him. Could this get any more awkward?

My body is frozen. Holy pecs. Instead of saying sorry and getting up, I blurt out the first thing that comes into my head. “Holy chest! Fuck, I mean, are you okay? Sorry.” The fact that he just stares at me puts my nerves into overdrive. “Could this be any more awkward? I’m certainly making quite the first impression.” My voice starts strong but ends with a whimper. I mentioned his chest, stupid ass.

I can’t read the look on Ben’s face. I’m thinking it’s a mixture of surprise, amusement, but something else. Something I haven’t seen in a man’s eyes for a long time. It looks like longing, or maybe its lust? He stutters a bit. “I … I think as far as first impressions go, I’d say, so far so good. It’s not every day I have a beautiful girl fall on top of me.” He winks at me, and I feel something stir low in my belly. He thinks I’m beautiful.

“What? Is it like only every other day that a girl falls on top of you?” I try to act smooth as I get off him and reach for my backpack. I hear him laugh as he gets up, helping me with my backpack.

“Hey, be careful with that thing. You could really hurt somebody. What’s in there anyway?”

“Well my e-reader and laptop, but both are pretty light, so I’m thinking you’re just wimpy.” I fight back my laughter, but it slips out when he feigns being hurt.

“But not my chest, right?” Smug bastard! “Let’s get this stuff loaded up in the car and get out of here.”

Teaser 2

Reaching down for her bags, I gesture to go inside. “Hey, let’s get your stuff inside. I’ll show you where you’re staying. You’ve got one of the best rooms here at the ranch. Wait ‘til you see the view.”

Cursing myself for sounding like an overexcited tour guide, I walk through the door. She starts to trail behind me, but stops. She turns away from the door and walks back down the porch stairs to a row of grapevines. I put the bags down and feel that pull again to follow her.

“Is everything okay?”

She looks back at me. “Yeah, I just need a minute. I want to remember this moment—this shift.” Her hands roam down her neck while she closes her eyes. “I want to let everything soak in.” I watch her open her eyes. “I want to look at the view and see the grapevines and hills. I want to smell the sweetness of the grapes and wine. I want to hear the rustling of the leaves and the tractor engine purrs. I want to touch the vines, leaves, and grapes.” She looks back at me again, and I’m blown away. I watch a stray hair fall in front of her face. It takes all my will power not to touch her.

“You forgot taste.”

She smiles devilishly. “Yeah, I definitely want to taste. What do you suggest?” She raises her eyebrows, and I can’t keep my hand from delicately placing the strand behind her ear. Her breath hitches from my touch. Oh God, this girl is going to unravel me. It’s been so long since I’ve felt this way- it overwhelms me. The way she’s looking at me like she could devour me whole. There’s no doubt in my mind what I want to taste.

Yep, I’m definitely wrecked.

“How about our merlot? It pairs nicely with some dark chocolate.”

“Sounds perfect. Let’s get my bags in, and then we can have that taste.” Now it’s her turn to wink.

Images of my tongue licking drops of red wine that trickle down her exposed neck and breasts envelop me. All I know is if she says taste one more time, I’ll be taking a shower sooner than I thought.

 TEASER 3

Looking up into her moist eyes I pull her close to me. Our arms hug each other with a fierceness that’s getting rid of every loose fragment of damage. We’re expelling each and every bad memory and all the shit that’s fucked us up. “I don’t want to let you go. Can we stay like this for a little while longer?” Her head nods on my shoulder as she sinks deeper into our embrace.

“You feel incredible in my arms. I never thought much about guardian angels, but I think you’ve been sent just for me. Your arms wrapping around me make everything go away.”
Sam’s arms grip me with even more vigor. I feel her breath and lips tickle my ear as she turns her head into the crook of my neck. Feather light kisses touch my neck and earlobe as she whispers; “You’re wrong Ben; you’re my angel. You make me believe that love can exist.” Her head pulls back but her arms stay firmly in place. “Your voice brought light into my life when all I could see was darkness. When I’m all alone, it’s your voice that I hear when I drift off to sleep at night.”
I turn and press my lips onto hers tenderly and hold them there for several seconds before breaking away. We stay holding each other well into the night. Finally, her breaths change and I realize she’s fallen asleep on my shoulder. I gently shift her body close and place one arm underneath her legs to pick her up. She stirs slightly and turns her head into the curve of my neck and inhales deeply. “Mmm, you smell so good.”
I hold her against me as I chuckle, “Oh yeah? It’s a combination of sweat, wine, and you.”
Sighing she lifts her head with her eyes still closed. “How is it you know to say the exact thing a woman likes to hear?”
“I don’t know about that. I guess you bring it out of me.”
We get into the truck, and I buckle her up. I fight off the images of the accident and instead focus on Sam.  I listen to her steady breaths and watch her sleep. She hypnotizes me.  I’m captivated by her heart, beauty and soul. Her capacity to let me in is remarkable and humbling especially when I don’t think I deserve it. Home has to feel a lot like this because I can’t imagine living anywhere else.

Teaser 4
As I step farther into the barn, I move over to the large oak barrels lined up against the wall. The smell is heavenly, and my mood begins to improve. The air I’ve been searching for is found as I inhale the sweet scent. My peace doesn’t last long, though; I can feel his presence before he even enters the barn. My body continues its steady pace toward the back where the light is dim. The hairs on the back of my neck rise as I feel his body move closer to me. I keep my mouth shut tight so nothing will spill out. It’s his turn to talk, to take a chance. Not mine.
“You ran this time.” His voice is gruff and forces me to momentarily stop my route.
“I did. The difference between my running and yours is that I went to where you would find me.” I feel his arm touch my shoulder to turn me around so I face him. My mind tells me we should talk, but I don’t want to hear anything he has to say. My body wants him and to deny it any longer is painful. Pushing my fear aside, I brace myself for what I’m about to do. “Why did you follow me?”
“I had to. Let’s not run anymore. I’m done with denying this.” His hands move to cup my face, tilting it up.
“I asked you to dance, and you said no.”
“I’m a fucking idiot. Watching you dance with Jack nearly killed me. That should have been me dancing with you. Touching you. Holding you.”
“So, why didn’t you?”
Chuckling softly, he whispers, “I’m a fucking pussy.” He hangs his head in shame. “I knew if I touched you one more time tonight, I’d be gone.” My breath hitches as his thumb strokes my bottom lip. Opening for him slightly, I nip the tip of it before speaking.
“Well, you’re touching me right now. Are you gone?”
Taking his hands away, he anxiously rubs his hair while he steps closer to me. Leaning into me, he whispers in my ear, “You have no idea how you affect me.”
