Sneak Peek
He all-but dumped me in the middle of the vast king-sized bed, before falling on top on me. After deftly undoing my bra, he ducked his head to feast on my breasts.
The instant his mouth captured one throbbing nipple, I arched my back as I tried to get him to take more of me inside him.
“Yes, Brendon!”
He withdrew slightly, to glance up at me.
“Say, yes, Sir.” Hell, at this point I would have said anything, even yes, master.
“Yes, Sir.” My voice was breathy, as it always was when in the throes of passion.
He groaned loudly. “Mmm, I love hearing those words on your lips.”
As if in confirmation, he planted a wet kiss on them, before resuming where he had left off; this time, plucking my other nipple to suck and nip.
All too soon, he withdrew and I was surprised to see that somehow, without me realising it, he had undid the remaining buttons and had eased the shirt off my shoulders; all while his mouth had been occupied with my chest.
Kneeling before me, with a wicked grin, he pulled my skirt down, to leave me in just my knickers and heels. Staring up at him I noticed that, as usual, he was still fully dressed. Well, before he went any further, I wanted to begin to strip him bare.
Pushing myself up onto my elbows, I peered up into his eager face and began to unbutton his pale blue shirt. Task done, I sat up straighter to boldly press my face against his now-naked chest; my most favourite part of Brendon’s body.

Sneak Peek
He walked into the laundry area and reappeared a few moments later. I noticed he had removed his sneakers. What I didn’t notice was that he was carrying a length of rope in his right hand. My eyes pulsed and widened.
“Trust me.”
He took hold of my hands and bringing my wrists together, tied them with the rope. He leaned towards me and with one finger, tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear. I shivered inwardly at his gentle touch, followed so soon after his dominating actions.
“Stay!” He turned his back on me and walked to the kitchen, then poured himself a glass of water. He drank it slowly as he leaned against the breakfast bar. Our eyes met, yet neither of us spoke. His movements were relaxed and unhurried. Once finished, he placed it on the sink and then slowly sauntered his way across the room. The image of a panther stalking its prey came to mind.
“How do you feel right now, one word answer?”
That was easy, in a word, “Vulnerable.”
“Better, it’s a step up from nervous. Are you feeling aroused, yes or no?”
It was hard to admit, especially with him standing over me like he was. “I don’t know….”
“Yes or no?”
After a brief pause, I confessed in a small voice, “Yes.”
“Good, come with me.” In a controlled movement he brought me to my feet. He held my bound hands in one of his and grabbed the paperwork with the other. He headed for the stairs, pulling me along behind him. He was forceful, yet took the steps at a slow pace so I didn’t stumble. It was an overwhelming experience, heightened by the fact he didn’t speak, nor once look back at me.
I was surprised to see he was leading me towards the end of the corridor, towards his bedroom. The room was huge, almost making the king-sized bed appear small. The first thought that struck me was how dark it was compared with the rest of the neutral tones of the other rooms I had seen so far. Was this an insight into his hidden personality?
He placed the pages on one of the matching black bedside cabinets and then, stopping next to the bed, turned to me. “What is your favourite fantasy?”
My mouth dropped open and I mentally shook my head. I was definitely not prepared to reveal something so intimate, so personal. But once again he gave me a hard stare, compelling me to tell the truth. “I don’t think I’m ready for that yet.”
He nodded as though he understood. “Then tell me something you would like me to do.” He gave me a wicked grin.
How could I put into words what I wanted, what I had always wanted to try? I recalled my few past experiences with the guys who had not been able to deliver the goods. Of course there was one who had been into it, but I hadn’t been up for the challenge at that stage.
“I want you to decide.”

Book 1 The Midnight Society
Author Logan Patricks
Whoever said money couldn’t buy happiness has never starved a day in their lives.
My name is Aria Valencia, a third year classical music student at the university, and I was down to my last dollar. Some nights, I seriously considered working at the rippers just to make ends meet, but the thought of my dad’s spirit–God rest his soul–scowling at me while I danced up on some drooling degenerate was enough to turn me off the idea completely.
And then one night, chance came knocking on my door under the guise of the Midnight Society, a secret cabal comprised of the most wealthy and influential souls this side of the Universe. Their leader was a man named Shadow, who was equally enigmatic as he was gorgeous and, for some mystifying reason, had his dark brooding eyes focused on me.
Seduced by the promises of fame and fortune in exchange for a seemingly innocent request, I soon found myself drawn into a provocative world filled with both vast riches and unending lies and it didn’t take long for me to realize what being a part of the Midnight Society actually entailed: shiny things, sensual romance, and dead bodies.
Falling in love with Shadow came with a terrible price, one that I wasn’t willing to pay. There’s a dark side to every love story, and this one was mine.
Chapter One: One month ago
There were some days I seriously considered stripping at the Skin Bar a couple of blocks away from the University, just so I could make enough money for a nice hot meal and to save myself from another month of eviction threats from my red-faced Serbian landlord. However the thought of my dad’s spirit, God rest his soul, scowling at me while I shoved my breasts into some pervert’s face was enough of a deterrent for me to think anymore into it. This was the life of a struggling arts student, constantly fantasizing of ways to make ends meet.
Whoever said, “Money can’t buy happiness” clearly never starved a day in their lives.
I picked up the local campus paper and flipped through the Classifieds. It was littered with jobs for servers, which I had tried my hand at before, and loathed with a passion. Consider it a character flaw, but I was far too blunt and headstrong to put up with anyone’s bullshit. Blame my dad for instilling in me a strong sense of pride and confidence from the day I was born up until the day he left this world.
Though people considered me a cheerful person, there were three sure-fire things that transformed this sweet, happy-go-lucky girl into a snarling beast that was best left imprisoned inside seven-foot thick steel walls.
The first was having my ass grabbed. Unless you were my boyfriend, which no one was at the moment, then your hands were not allowed anywhere near my rear. Any attempts were met with an unholy wave of verbal profanities in addition to having all five of my fingers rake your eyes like they were dead leaves on a lawn.
The second was being judged unfairly, which was a constant occurrence for a classical performance music student. Every time I went on stage and performed one of Chopin’s preludes on the campus’s Steinway pianos—the most beautiful sounding instrument in existence—I was at the mercy of all the critics and their biased opinions. Granted that most of them left me with constructive criticism, there were the handful of critiques that infuriated me with unfair slanders that made me want to give up this dream of mine altogether. But dad taught me never to quit and I always ended up picturing his Jedi spirit (yes I was a fan girl) and the look of joy on his face as I played. This carried me through the worst criticisms and those difficult times when I believed myself to be a failure.
Finally, the last item on my list of not-so-awesome things was hunger, which I endured a lot of lately. It was turning me into a Frankenstein-like-bitch.
I contemplated the serving job once again, almost giving into the temptation of having some pocket money, but decided that I wasn’t in the correct mindset to deal with people. Also the threat of having my ass grabbed by drunken frat boys was not worth it for minimum wage.
I felt my stomach rumble and cursed at it.
“Stop complaining,” I said to my belly. “I fed you a chocolate bar four hours ago.”
Great, I was standing in the middle of the street talking to my stomach like only psychos or pregnant women did.
Hunger had struck at my sanity once again.
Oh Aria, I thought to myself, how are you going to survive another semester?

The pretty, young host escorts me to a table for two near a window with panoramic water vistas. Within minutes, a server takes my order. As my café latté arrives, I can’t help but overhear a rude exchange between a man and his leggy blonde with the host that escorted me to my seat.
“Look, I reserved that exact seat yesterday,” he says.
“I apologize sir, but that seat is not available,” the host replies.
“Well, if you were doing your job in the first place, it would be available to me, wouldn’t it?”
“Sir, I’m sorry for the error, but it wasn’t written here. If you like, you can wait at the bar where I’ll be happy to serve you a complimentary beverage of your choice while you wait, or I can accommodate you at an available table now.”
I can’t help but look to see who this asshole is.
Everything about him smells of money. From the designer jeans that hug his ass, all the way to the Jaeger Reverso watch that graces his wrist. He’s hot—probably in his mid to late thirties, tall, broad shoulders, piercing grey eyes, and a head of black hair like I’ve never seen.
Ordinarily, I might have found him attractive, if only he would just shut up.
Everything he says to that poor young girl, who has tried so hard to rectify someone else’s mistake, pisses me off. He’s been nothing but rude and condescending. As I look up, my eyes land straight on his. Then I realize they’re all looking my way. I turn around to look behind me, but there is no one. Then it dawns on me that he’s arguing with the host about my seat.
My meal arrives. I mind my business, and I proceed to enjoy it. Before I know it, I see him approaching my table. I pretend not to notice and focus all my attention on my lemon ricotta pancakes before me, but within seconds, he stands beside me.
“Excuse me, my name is Jonathan Kole. Would you mind terribly if you were seated elsewhere?”
My eyes travel across my pancakes to his broad thighs, to his crotch, and to what I suspect is an extremely trimmed stomach beyond his black ribbed sweater. Then I stare into his grey eyes in silence.
“You see, my girlfriend and I met right here at this table a year ago, and I wanted to propose to her.
Here. Today.”
“Actually, Jonathan, I do mind. Seeing that I’m enjoying my meal, surely you wouldn’t mind waiting until I’m done. Or perhaps you can let that polite host, who has done everything possible to accommodate you, have you seated elsewhere.”
“Do you have any idea who I am?” he asks.
Asshole! Your name might sound familiar but who cares…
“No. You could be the king of England and I wouldn’t give a damn.”
“Who the hell do you think you are?”
“You really want to know?” I ask quietly.
He lowers his head slightly, as if he’s seriously interested.
“I am a woman who walked in on her fiancé screwing her best friend one week before her wedding, so forgive me if I’m not in a sentimental mood.”
His mouth drops open at my response.
“Now, if you’ll excuse me, Mr. Kole, I’d really like to enjoy my brunch.”
His piercing grey eyes are glaring into mine. I know he’s angry. His temple pulsates as he stares at me. He walks away completely flushed.
I don’t care. Perhaps if he had been nicer to that host I would have considered his request. However, because he comes from money doesn’t give him the right to speak to people any which way he wishes.
I continue to enjoy my meal and notice him walking hand in hand to the bar with Malibu Barbie. Half an hour later, I ask for the check then purposely make him wait an additional five minutes before I leave.
On the way out, the host looks at me bright-eyed. “No one ever speaks to Mr. Kole that way, Miss McLean.”
“Well, it’s time someone taught him some manners,” I reply. I hand her a healthy tip, and I’m on my way.
