EXCERPT 1
“So what’s the body count?”
“The body count?”
“You know: how many women have you slept with in your twenty-nine years?”
Evan wasn’t sure whether to overstate the number to look sexually impressive to a soft porn star, or whether to understate the number to look less promiscuous and more like the responsible, clean cut, solid-boyfriend type. Since he still hadn’t quite figured out what Tina was looking for or who she really was, he decided just to tell the truth.
“I’ve been with about sixty-seven women.”
“What do you mean ‘about sixty-seven?’ You say ‘about sixty’ or ‘about seventy.’ But not ‘about sixty-seven.’ You’re obviously keeping track.” Tina looked amused at another opportunity to toy with Evan.
“All right. You got me,” Evan conceded. “I’ve been with precisely sixty-seven women.”
“Unless, of course, you said ‘about’ because the total depends on how you define ‘being with a woman.’ For example, if you just got a blowjob and nothing else then maybe you don’t count that.”
“OK. To be more precise, I’ve had sexual intercourse with sixty-seven women.”
“All right, so then you’ve probably been with many more women than sixty-seven?”
“Yeah. But I don’t keep track of those.” Evan suddenly wondered why he didn’t bother to keep track of anything but consummation.
“I see…So when did you get started on these sixty-seven women?”
“You mean, how old was I when I lost my virginity?”
“Yes.”
“Twenty.”
“So you’ve slept with sixty-seven women in just nine years.”
“Well, actually I’ve had six serious relationships that together took up about two years.”
“Serious? Let’s see…Six serious relationships in two years…So each one lasted an average of four months. You call that serious?”
“Well, it was an intense four months. And I wasn’t seeing anyone else. You know, that’s kind of a big deal in New York,” he added ironically. “Dating someone exclusively for four months in New York is like four years in Anchorage.”
Tina chuckled at Evan’s joke. “All right, so not counting the serious relationships, you’ve slept with…” She crunched some numbers in her head. “You’ve slept with sixty-one women in just seven years…That’s an average of almost nine per year…A new woman every forty days.” Tina seemed impressed, which suddenly made Evan feel rather promiscuous.
EXCERPT 2:
“What’s SQ?” asked Evan.
“Basically, it’s your odds of getting laid. Everyone has an SQ. Just like everyone has an IQ.”
“I’ve never heard that term before.”
“That’s because I made it up.”
“That figures. Finally applying your actuarial skills to what really matters, eh?”
“Yeah…It’s an idea I had always sort of toyed with, but after I lost Yumi to my boss, I really began to develop and refine it.”
“Why is that?”
“Because I started obsessing over why she suddenly dumped me for him. And in the process of figuring that out, I developed the concept of SQ.”
“So how does it work?”
“Your Sexual Quotient is really just an attempt to quantify, on some absolute scale, how attractive you are to the opposite sex. In general, the higher your SQ, the more desirable you are.”
“So the higher your SQ, the easier it is for you to get laid.”
“Right. But your SQ determines a lot more; it effectively defines your bargaining position in a relationship. The lower your SQ, the more likely you are to be dominated by the person you’re with,” Heeb explained.
“You really think so?”
“Look at me. I always end up being the doormat because of my SQ. But if you look at models – male or female – they generally get away with demanding more and giving less.”
“So how do you figure out your SQ?” Evan asked, suddenly eager to compute his own Sexual Quotient.
“Well, your subjective SQ is how attractive you are to a particular person. And your objective SQ is just the average of all the scores you got for all of the people out there.”
“So how do I calculate my SQ for a particular woman?”
“It’s calculated the way you would calculate your personal income taxes.”
“How’s that?”
“Various facts cause you to take deductions from the total, although with taxes you want the deductions and with your SQ you obviously don’t. Because the lower your objective SQ is, the fewer women you attract, and the less picky you can be. And that’s a bad thing. And for anyone who wants to marry a Jew, it’s a disaster.”
“Why?”
“Because there are only about fourteen million Jews in the whole world, which leaves about seven million for each gender. So let’s say I’m willing to date any Jewish woman who’s twenty to forty years old. That leaves me with a choice of about two million women in the world. And if we assume that half of those women are already taken, I’m left with a million eligible women roaming about six billion people. And, chances are, the million that’s not taken is not taken for a reason.”
“A million?”
“Yeah. And if you want to get really precise, we need to shave off at least another three hundred thousand, because I can’t date any Chasidic, Orthodox or even Conservative Jews.”
“Why is that?”
“Because I’m compatible only with bagel Jews.”
“Bagel Jews?”
“The ones who are Jewish culturally but not religiously. Which leaves about seven hundred thousand.”
EXCERPT 3
“Listen to what you’re saying to me! Can you believe what you just – ”
Heeb blanked out on Melody for a moment as he remembered that he needed to deposit his mail in the mailbox a few feet away because it was the last one before he entered the Eighty-sixth Street subway station. He had been looking forward to this moment, after uncomfortably holding his mail in a stack that was sandwiched between his fingers and his cell phone, which was held down on the stack by his right thumb and pressed up to the side of his head for the conversation.
He refocused on Melody’s rant: “…not fair…I mean, listen to how you communicate with me! I feel like that’s become our problem. That’s really what this is about now: we just don’t communicate like we used – ” And that was the last thing he heard Melody say. Heeb’s painfully cramped and over-encumbered fingers were so eager to release the stack of mail from his right hand into the mailbox that they released his cell phone as well.
Heeb stood there for a moment, in dazed disbelief, looking helplessly at the sides of the mailbox. Melody’s continuing diatribe could now be heard only as a series of strangely muffled, barely audible noises, emanating from within the metal mailbox, like a transistor radio that falls into a manhole and just gives off a faint, chattering buzz.
In absurd desperation, Heeb tried cupping his hands to the mailbox for a moment, and shouting into it, hoping that she might hear what happened and that he really didn’t mean to drop the phone in the mailbox just as she was complaining about how they don’t communicate as well as they used to.
“Melody! Melody! I can’t hear you! I dropped my phone in the mailbox! Can you hear me?! I’m sorry! It slipped!”
As several commuters walked by, looking oddly at this heavyset balding man in a suit and tie crouched down low and apparently talking rather urgently to a mailbox, Heeb felt that he may have reached the nadir of his follies in the New York dating scene. But it would actually get much worse.
Sex in the Title Quotes
To feed his steady diet of NYC nightlife, he regularly crashed VIP parties in the early 2000s and twice bumped into his burgeoning crush, a Hollywood starlet. But – much to Zack’s surprise – neither of those awkward conversations led to marriage with the A-list actress. Zack eventually consoled himself by imagining fiascoes far worse than those involving his celebrity crush. In the process, he dreamed up a motley gang of five men inspired by some of his college friends and quirky work colleagues. And thus was born Sex in the Title. But the novel is not autobiographical: Zack never had his third leg attacked by any mammal (nor by any plant, for that matter). In fact, keeping his member safe has been one of Zack’s lifelong goals – and one of the few that he’s managed to accomplish.

Sneak Peek Excerpt
ON THE ROCKS
By Sawyer Bennett
“What the fuck is wrong with her?” I grumbled.
“You’re clueless, dude,” Brody said while he placed the twenties, tens, fives, and ones in their respective drawers. He opened up the rolls of coins and emptied them in their slots. “Absolutely clueless.”
Walking up to the bar, I pulled a stool out and leaned one ass cheek on it, laying my forearms on the bar. “Want to enlighten me?”
Shutting the register drawer, Brody turned to look at me. “You two remind me of two kids who like each other but don’t understand it. So rather than confronting it, you pick at each other, letting your confused emotions come out as anger and stupid words.”
“I’m not the one picking at her,” I pointed out.
“True, but I expect Gabby’s feelings run in a different direction than yours. You’re running around with your tongue hanging out, panting after her, and she’s got her heart tied up. It’s the classic difference between men and women.”
I stood there with my jaw hanging open, staring in wonder at Brody. He just fucking ‘Dr. Phil-ed’ me, and I was in awe.
“How in the fuck do you know that?” I asked.
He shrugged his shoulders and walked out from behind the bar, heading toward the stockroom. “One thing in prison you have a lot of… is time. Three things came out of it. I devoured a lot of books, I had plenty of time to think, and I sharpened my observation skills. I see plenty of what goes on, even if you and Gabby don’t.”
I was struck dumb. My brother… the felon… the philosopher. I was beyond grateful that he was actually having a conversation with me. I was blown away at the nature of said conversation. My respect for my brother increased tenfold, because I realized that prison might have actually made him smarter… keener… even potentially more well-rounded.
“You amaze me,” is all I could think to say.
Brody just snorted at my comment and walked into the storeroom, while I stared after him. Maybe that was a turning point for Brody, actually doling out advice to his dumbass brother.
Now it’s Wednesday morning and, as I pull into the parking lot of Last Call, I see Gabby’s work truck. None of the other crew members have arrived, but it’s only 7:30 AM and they don’t usually clock in until around eight. I have no clue what time Gabby shows up each morning, but I’m guessing it’s way earlier than seven thirty.
Unlocking the door, I let myself in and relock it behind me. I’ll open it back up at eight.
I hear sounds coming from the back room, which leads out onto the existing deck. Gabby said they’d be starting the deck expansion today, so I expect to find her out there.
When I walk back there though, I find her still inside, bent over one of the pool tables, reviewing the design plans she has spread out before her. She’s wearing her classic work clothes… jeans, a t-shirt, and work boots. She has her tool belt riding low on her slim hips, and she’s chewing on the end of a pencil while she peruses the documents in front of her. With her hair pulled up in a ponytail, she looks young and fresh… and it makes me want to kiss the fuck out of her.
“Good morning,” I say, and her head snaps up.
For a brief moment, her face is placid and relaxed. But the moment she realizes it’s me walking in, her lips set in a grim line and she turns her attention back down to the plans before her.
And that just pisses me off. Fuck what Brody said about her liking me, and that’s why she’s so cranky. It doesn’t make any sense, and I’m getting tired of her bratty behavior. It makes me want to be a brat in return, so what do I do?
I walk up beside her, getting up close and invading her personal space, and lean over the plans. “Whatcha doin’?” I ask in a friendly voice.
I swear I can hear her teeth gritting from my nearness, and she takes a step to the side. “Just going over the specs on the back deck extension, so I can get the crew started when they get here.”
I slide a step closer to her, bending over the drawings. “Explain what you’ll be doing today.”
She curses under her breath, and I have to suppress a chuckle. I’m enjoying what my bratty side is doing to her.
“I don’t have time for this, Hunter. You either trust my work, or you don’t.”
I turn to look at her, and she’s glaring at me. “You’re cute when you’re angry. I particularly like the way you pout. It’s sexy.”
Flames leap out of her eyes, I kid you not, and she takes a step in closer, while jabbing me in the chest with her finger. “Just cut it out, Hunter. I know you think this banter is funny but it’s not. It’s really pissing me off. I’m trying to do a job here, and you’re not making it—”
I’ve had enough—enough of her rancor and PMSing or whatever the fuck her problem is. Brody said she likes me, and I’m going to see if he’s as smart as I think he might be.
Grabbing her shoulders, I pull her in hard to me so her breasts mash into my chest. She lets out a tiny gasp, her hazel eyes going wide, and her lips full and slightly open. It’s the only invitation I need before I bring mouth down on hers… fast and hard.
I unleash all the pent-up frustration I have toward her cranky behavior into her mouth, slamming my tongue up against hers, scraping my own bottom lip against her teeth. The pleasure-pain is exquisite, and I groan at the first contact.
She’s stiff… just for a second, her hands hanging loosely at her side. I let it cross my mind briefly that I could be making a very big mistake, that this could be bordering on assault, but then her arms come up and she clutches my hips with her fingertips.
That spurs me on, and I tilt my head, angling for a deeper contact. She responds tenfold, sliding a sexy whimper into my mouth, and I feel myself starting to grow painfully hard.
All from a fucking kiss.
A kiss that is just like five years ago, yet so very different. Then she was forbidden, young, innocent. It was shocking and altering, two things that fueled my lust.
Now, it’s a desire that’s fueled by years of wondering, fantasizing, and maybe even a bit of regret. It’s also a flame that has recently been fanned by anger, and let’s face it… there’s nothing hotter than being in the middle of an argument and releasing that emotion through the sexual channels.
My heart is slamming inside my chest, and my dick is aching. I want to do nothing more than take Gabby, lay her across the pool table, and fuck the meanness out of her. I want to sink myself in her warmth, make her body mine, and when it’s done, have her look at me with something other than disdain.
But now is not the time, and it’s certainly not the place. When I take her—and I will—it’s going to be somewhere private so I can do things that might border on depraved… but will certainly wipe that smug look off her face. Just the thought has me smiling against her lips.
I bring one hand up and cup the back of her head, pushing her mouth harder against mine for just a second, taking a last swipe at her with my tongue. Then I pull back, gripping onto her hair to hold her in place.
I stare at her intently, watching her eyes, which are clouded with lust and longing. Without the power of the kiss driving
us, her gaze starts to clear, and I enjoy the myriad of emotion that filters through. Desire is replaced by confusion, which is then replaced by anger.
She pushes back against my body, her hands still at my hips, but I hold tight to her hair and I don’t budge an inch.
“What the hell was that for?” she seethes.
I give her a calculated smirk, running my eyes over her face and leaning down to nip at her lower lip with my teeth. She shivers in my arms and I internally gloat, because while she acts like she’s mad, she wants me. There’s no denying it.
Pulling back slightly, I rub my nose against hers, and then say, “It was the only way to get you to shut up.”
She looks at me blankly for a moment, and then it sinks in what I just said to her. She practically screeches as she rips away from my embrace, and I quickly release my hold on her hair so she doesn’t tear a chunk of it out. Stepping back a foot, her eyes do a slow burn and her hand comes up to wipe it across her lips. It’s a calculated move… to show me that the kiss disgusted her, but she’s not fooling me. I invented that move, used it on her five years ago in fact. I know all about masking my true feelings.
Leaning against the pool table with one hip, I cross my arms across my chest and give her a lazy smile. “Don’t act affronted, Gabs. You enjoyed that just as much as I did.”
“Oooohhh,” she screeches again, and I wince at the sound. “You’re an asshole. If you touch me again, I swear I’ll… I’ll…”
“What?” I taunt her. “Kiss the fuck out of me again? You wanted it… you enjoyed it. Accept it.”
“I did not,” she insists, stomping her foot. “You caught me off guard.”
Laughing at her silliness, I take a step forward, even as she takes a step back to keep distance between us. “You may not know what’s going on here, but I do. Brody enlightened me the other day.”
That gets her attention because she can’t help but ask, “What do you mean?”
I decide I’m done playing for the day. I can see she’s going to need time to process this, and I’m fully expecting to deal with a she-devil tomorrow. So I just turn around and head back out to the front of the bar, telling her over my shoulder. “Ask Brody. He’ll fill you in.”
I hear her curse behind me, dropping a few F-bombs in the process. I just laugh, and I know she can hear me because a few more choice words follow me out the door.

Contemporary Romance/New Age Genre
Published November 5, 2013
Book 2
Custom Culture Series
Synopsis
When Taylor Flinn’s parents shipped her off to an aunt for her last year of high school, James “Clutch” Mason had convinced himself it was for the best. Taylor, the wild, impulsive and far-too-appealing seventeen-year-old had been driving him nuts. Her school girl crush on him had been the last thing he needed. Now he had time to concentrate on his booming classic car part business, his new found love– drag racing, and keeping his twenty-year-old brother Barrett out of trouble.
But when Taylor returns from her aunt’s more grown up, utterly seductive, and attached to another guy, Clutch realizes that the only thing he ever needed or wanted was Taylor Flinn.
Clutch on Tour
Excerpt
She came around the corner, unexpectedly and like a hurricane of stars. My mind went completely blank. I hung up and stuck the phone in my pocket.
Taylor’s long lashes curtained her smooth cheeks as she dropped her gaze.
The adrenaline rush left behind from getting my hands on a sixty-five Shelby morphed into an explosion of every emotion I’d ever felt. I lunged forward and grabbed her hand. She gasped as I dragged her around the back of the building.
I pressed her up against the bricks and stared down at her.
Blogger Review
Hello Readers, I am currently reading this book. I am about half way through so far. So more details will come later. But, for now let me tell you that Tess Oliver is a new author (at least to me). Clutch is the first book by this author that I have read. So far I generally like the book. I am glad to know that this is a series. Series are my preference when reading. I enjoy connecting with the same characters. Seeing familiar names, backgrounds and new adventures arise with said characters. To me a series brings a reader closer to the characters in the novel. The novel seems more real. Like you might actually know the hero and heroine, and their friends in REAL life. It leads to new developments in a novel that you really hated to see end. Know it continues with new plots and twists.
Clutch is actually Book 2 in Tess Oliver’s Custom Culture Series. However, Clutch can be read as a Stand-Alone novel. During the read, the reader comes to learn a little about the tight group of friends that help in developing the story, as well as leading to side stories that (at least I hope) will develop into future books in this series.
Chapter 1 start out with the main character (hero) Jimmy aka Clutch in an auto race. It isn’t until later in the chapter that the reader hears this characters name mentioned. While at the track readers are introduced to some of the other characters in the novel. There is Dray, who through his description must be a fighter of some sort. His girlfriend is Cassie, who has taken up photography and works in FreeFall, Nix’s Tattoo shop. Nix is a good friend and school mate of Jimmy’s (Clutch). Nix is who the first book is about and where the reader first meets this group of characters. Scotlyn is Nix’s girlfriend. In Clutch , the reader gathers that she has had a very hard and difficult life, and that she does not talk very much. Also that Nix loves her very, very much!
The night starts out pretty exciting for Jimmy (Clutch), that is until he comes home. You will have to read the book yourself to find out what happens at this point. As another character is introduced into the novel at this point.
Readers will pick up that Jimmy (or rather James, aka Clutch) is all about classic cars. He and his other good friend, Jason own a classic car repair shop. Now this part is interesting to me, because my brother does the exact same thing. So when the book mentions car shows, and how excited characters get over a certain car, I can actually imagine what that would be like.
Off and on in the beginning of the book the name, Taylor is brought up. What readers can gather at this point is that she is an older high school student that has a huge crush to the very tall and well built Clutch. Apparently she likes to make herself a nuisance, and is always getting into trouble showing just how big a crush she has on Clutch. This ultimately gets her sent to Florida to live with a dull aunt for a while during her senior year of high school, (which takes place all in FreeFall, Book 1).
In Clutch, Book 2 of the Custom Culture Series, Taylor has returned home for her eighteenth birthday. Readers now find that she has made a deal with her parents, that she will basically straighten up and fly right (as my own parents still tell me to do at over 40). So she shuts down her spunky outgoing spirit and dates Adam who is the hottest guy in the senior class. But is Taylor really happy? Her brother sees her as a troublesome nuisance, her mother sees her as hyper and messy (compared to her own quiet temperament, love of all things spit-spot clean and tidy, and dull interests). Her dad…? Well so far the reader will only know how much he likes to yell.
Taylor’s family is constantly watching her, questioning her, and under the spell that Taylor has changed her life. Ah… but has she really?
Taylor has had serious feeling for Clutch since she was sixteen. Clutch has also had a secret crush on her, though he has never shown it. After all she is just a ‘kid’ compared to him, and his best friends sister.
In Clutch, readers will discover two people that care about each other, but due to this, that, and the other, their feelings get miss understood and hurt feelings come into play. Thus creating the plot for this novel. Will they ever ‘make up’ and become a real couple? Well readers I have not read that far yet. And even if I had I would not ‘spoil’ the novel for you.
Rating as of 11-30-2013
As of right now my ranking of, Clutch is a 3.5
Earlier I mentioned that I am new to the author, so I am not sure about her style of writing yet. The more I read, the more I will understand in this regard. So far the book has been an easy read. Wording is simple, the chapters are not overly long. Both Clutch and Taylor take turns, giving the reader a POV perspective of said characters. It takes several chapters before Clutch and Taylor actually meet. When they do, sparks fly…but I am not telling you just HOW they spark!
Currently I am on chapter 13, so not quite halfway done with the novel yet. In all there are 29 chapters in this particular novel.
The dialogue has mostly been among the guys in the novel. Cassie, Scotlyn, and Taylor have had minor roles this far in.
The only romance so far has been one HOT kiss between two characters and some sweet kisses between others.
I plan to finish the book, I want to see how it ends. Then depending on my reading schedule, I already have Book 1, FreeFall in my TBR (To Be Read) collection. Remember I said I liked reading books are a series. Even though Clutch can be read as a stand-alone, I am curious to read the first book and see how the series starts from the very beginning. Thus, probably filling in holes from Clutch, since I am new to all of these characters.
Readers, if you like big hunky guys with long blonde hair, classic cars, tattoos, and a little romance and mystery thrown in, then this book is for you.

Reviews
Bonnie doesn’t take Eli’s crap I liked that, “well, I’ll leave if you want. I don’t have a problem doing that if it means I won’t be unjustly attacked just because you’re suffering from PMS.” Didn’t know men could get that as well, good to know. You can tell that Eli really does care about Bonnie before they spent years apart and after, “well, excuse me. I didn’t have time to take a shower; I had to save a damsel in distress after all.” I mean he’s really caring, “I picked up tissues, Theraflu, more ibuprofen, sore throat spray, some Vicks chest rub stuff, and cough drops. Oh and I bought some chicken noodle soup and Sprite. Sprite is the only thing I’ll drink if I’m real sick. Don’t know why, but it’s what my mom uses,” he smiles at me as he lays everything on my dresser.” Mick I expected more from him, but turns out he’s a total a**, “you know why. I’m here to bring you home. I know your mom’s fine now. You can leave this place and quit playing babysitter.” I was happy with the ending I love my Happily Ever Afters.

I received a free e-copy for an honest review of Again by Brandy Jeffus.
I would recommend this book for an enjoyable quick read with likable characters and a great story line. Bonnie and Eli were high school sweethearts and best friends, destined to be together forever. Unfortunately Eli made a drunken, one-night stand mistake and broke off things with Bonnie feeling unworthy of her and that his life was forever altered due to this mistake. Not being able to deal with the situation, Bonnie leaves town for college and meets and starts dating a ‘rock’ star. Knowing this isn’t her forever an unforeseen car accident her mom has brings her home to help with care giving and back to Eli. Six years later, some things change but the one constant is a forever love that hasn’t stopped for either Bonnie or Eli. This is a teenage romance with some romance scenes but nothing too steamy. I would definitely recommend and keep Brandy on my indie author look out list for new books!!

This is a fairly straight forward story of love lost and then reignited. Eli and Bonnie were high school sweethearts and best friends since childhood. Engaged as seniors they planned to marry and live happily ever after. One night, drunk at a graduation party, Eli betrays Bonnie and then breaks up with her. She is ready to forgive him, but Eli doubts the strength of his love and feels unworthy of Bonnie. They separate and live different lives far away from each other. Back home after her mom has a near-fatal accident, Bonnie meets up with Eli, who was on site for the accident and stood by her mother’s side. Both of them are free from romantic entanglements, and find themselves falling for each other all over again. They discover that they never really stopped loving each other really. After a shoot out and Eli is wounded, they realize life is too short and they wasted too much time already. It is a good story without tragic backstories and a happily ever after.
