In The Unlikely Event
by L.J. SHEN

L.J. Shen comes a new, star-crossed lovers romance about loss, love, and meeting The One when you are too young to know how to keep them.
Sometimes you meet people who are out of this world, so you make them a part of yours.
A one-night stand born from vengeance in a foreign land.
An explosive chemistry neither of us could deny.
We signed a contract on the back of a Boar’s Head Pub napkin that said if we ever met again, we would drop everything and be together.
Eight years and thousands of miles later, he’s here.
In New York.
And he’s America’s music obsession.
The intangible Irish poet who brings record executives to their knees.
The blizzard in my perfect, unshaken snow globe.
Last time we spoke, he was a beggar with no intention of becoming a king.
But a king he became, and now I’m his servant.
I’m not the same broken princess Malachy Doherty put back together with his callused hands.
I have a career I love.
A boyfriend I adore.
An apartment, a roommate, a life.
I changed. He changed, too.
But Mal kept the napkin.
Question is, will I keep my word?

Alright so right from the start I could tell this work here was completely different from anything LJ Shen has produced as of yet. A very refreshing new take, a unique blend of angst, and really an emotional yet addictive story from start to the end.
Malachy Doherty is charming, sweet, humorous, fun, charismatic, definitely swoon-worthy. He is exactly what Aurora a.k.a. Rory needs at this time in her life as she struggles with daddy issues and going through grief.
Rory is young, sweet, feisty, and fun, when these to meet it’s an instant bond and enough chemistry to burn your eyes out of their sockets.
When the young lovers meet, Mal is a musician solo-ing it up on the streets and Rory is an up-and-coming photographer who takes her camera everywhere. It all begins with a promise-contract to wed in the unlikely event they meet in the future, it is wrote on a bar napkin that Mal keeps for years in his back pocket.
Fast forward into their future and you find the hero and heroine grew jaded, flawed, broken, jagged, and trying to fit their missing pieces together again. You know this is life in general, there are tons of accusations, assumptions, ups and downs, twists and turns, lies and deceit, we all make mistakes. But its time to solve all these riddles and they do in the most humorous of ways. Their story is quirky, cute, loving, heartbreaking and truthful to a fault. All their broken pieces seems to fit naturally back together. I cannot really say anything further without spoiling this epic love story except that no chocolate bars were harmed in the devouring of this novel.
